It is our policy that all checks are subject to a hold. This allows Beginnings to validate the check, which can help you avoid potential fees or overdrafts if the check is returned unpaid. With that said, keep in mind that the check may still be returned unpaid after the funds are made available to you.
How can I avoid a hold on my deposit?
You can avoid a hold on your deposit by encouraging individuals and businesses to pay you by using electronic payment solutions such as direct deposit, Automated Clearing House (ACH) payments, and online or bank transfers. These types of payments are typically available the same day they are received.
I used to receive my mobile deposit right after it posted. Why has this changed, and now the funds are on hold?
Most likely, those deposits were reviewed by an employee and posted from 9am-5pm during business hours only. With the new real-time review process, checks are deposited 24/7. To protect our members from using funds that may not truly be available, all checks are validated and are subject to hold, which allows time to validate the check. This can help you avoid potential fees or overdrafts if the check is returned.
